If you’re planning on enjoying the water at Pigeon Lake this long weekend, you’re in for a disappointment, warns Capital Health.
The algae bloom present in the lake earlier this month has not abated, say officials and the blooms “potentially contain toxins,” says Dr. Marcia Johnson, deputy health officer for Capital Health. “We are continuing to advise individuals not to swim … in the lake.”

The blue-green algae first appeared on earlier this month and, despite cooler temperatures, Johnson said, the algae have not dissipated to the levels where an advisory can be lifted.
