Board watchdog urged

The Toronto Catholic District School Board’s newest trustee wants an integrity commissioner appointed to hold trustees accountable for spending and other decisions.

Rob Davis, appointed by the board last Thursday to replace Ward 6 trustee Christine Nunziata, who resigned after missing three consecutive meetings, says an integrity commissioner is needed to restore public confidence after revelations of outrageous spending by some trustees emerged in an education ministry review.

In a news release issued yesterday, Davis said public response about the spending revelations “has been extremely negative.

“I haven’t met one person who isn’t deeply concerned about the report and its implications for Catholic education in Toronto.”
