Bobcats exercise option to keep G-F Henderson

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Bobcats have exercised the fourth-year option on guard/forward Gerald Henderson for next season.

Henderson has started all 18 games and is averaging 15.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. He’s reached double-figure scoring in six straight games, including three of 20 points or more, and is averaging 19.5 points on 54 per cent shooting during that span.

Bobcats president of basketball operations Rod Higgins says, “Gerald embodies the basketball culture we have created here of putting guys on the floor who work hard at their craft, have a passion for the game and are willing to take advantage of the resources afforded to them.”

The move will pay Henderson US$3.1 million next season. The club has the option to make him a restricted free agent after the 2012-13 season.
