They got a call around 8 p.m. from a neighbor who told police that they found the body against a fence on Boylston Street on the west side of town. Plymouth County District Attorney spokeswoman Beth Stone told the Brockton Enterprise that the death is considered “suspicious.” Both the Brockton Police and the State Police are looking into the matter.

“A male body was removed from that address and transported to the state Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy,” Stone said in an email to Metro Boston. “It is being treated as a suspicious death at this time.”

According to the Enterprise, the neighbor lived on Winona Street and said they started “smelling something foul.” This lead to the discovery of a body and the blackened surrounding area. The house where the body was found is said to have been abandoned for 5 years.

This investigation is ongoing.
