A 71-year-old Hubley man was found dead yesterday morning after he did not return home from fishing on Five Island Lake.

Floyd Nicholson went out to fish Monday around 7 p.m., but when he did not return, his family called the RCMP to help with the search.

Halifax Regional Fire Services and Halifax Ground Search and Rescue Team also assisted.

According to Halifax RCMP spokesman Cpl. Joe Taplin, Nicholson’s body was found early yesterday morning “fairly close to the shore,” about 200 metres away from his partially capsized boat.

Taplin could not say whether or not the boat was damaged, as it was part of the ongoing investigation, but he could confirm Nicholson had a lifejacket with him and that foul play is not being suspected.
