A new aircraft maintenance engineering program will be able to take off thanks to US$250,000 in funds from Boeing, the Nova Scotia Community College announced yesterday.

The cash will help develop training and test equipment for the two-year diploma program that kicked off at the Aviation Institute in Dartmouth this month, an NSCC news release said.

The investment is part of the Industrial and Regional Benefits policy under Industry Canada.

"The funds provided by Boeing will enhance the student learning experience and allow us to purchase the latest training aids to teach students the essential skills needed to work in this industry," NSCC president Joan McArthur-Blair said in a news release.
