Bogomolov to make debut for Russia in Davis Cup

MOSCOW – Alex Bogomolov Jr. will make his Davis Cup debut for Russia next week.

Russia captain Shamil Tarpischev says the 28-year-old Bogomolov has been included in the team to play at Austria next month in the first round.

In November, Bogomolov announced that he would play for Russia, the country of his birth, instead of the United States, where he had lived and trained since 1992.

After his debut, Bogomolov can apply for acceptance to play at the Olympics later in the year.

Tarpischev also chose Mikhail Youzhny, Nikolay Davydenko and Igor Kunitsyn for the best-of-five series in Austria.
