Definition of funk: A state of depression, blue funk, the dumps, the doldrums, a bad mood.
Mother nature is officially in a funk, and let’s face it – it rubs off on us. We get into a funk, because of the weather, especially when the funk lasts for days and days and falls on our precious weekends. May is the time of the year when we start weather fantasizing about a glorious Memorial Day weekend, not the month we say, “bring back March!” (as temperatures in March soared into the record-breaking 70’s and 80’s from Philly to New York to Boston.) The normal high temperature for early May is right around 70 degrees, with the normal low around 50 degrees. On Sunday temperatures were averaging close to 20 degrees below normal as the mercury hovered around 50, with a lid of clouds and funky rain and drizzle. Did I depress you enough? Wait, I have more funky weather news: This funk could last into next weekend, especially along all coastal areas of the Northeast.
Each day this week could be a bit unsettled with funky clouds dominating. If I had to pick the best day this week, I would say Wednesday, as the atmosphere should dry out for a while before the next round of funk moves in for late this week and into your weekend. A few computer models keep the funk over us right through the weekend, with others trying to break the funk by Sunday. Now, I do have some good news, it’s not the Memorial Day weekend, the bad news is most of us will be a bit more testy and irritable due to the prolonged funk. Local forecasts…
