Bombardier Transportation has won a $390-million follow-on order to supply subway cars for Toronto’s transit system.
Manufacturing and final assembly of the vehicles will be carried out at Bombardier’s factory in Thunder Bay.
Delivery of the cars is scheduled to take place between 2012 and 2013.
Cars from the previous order are being tested in Kingston.
On Wednesday, Bombardier won a contract valued at up to $1.7 billion to supply 59 trains or 436 double-decker electric railway cars to Switzerland’s railway system.
The deal includes an option for 100 additional trains.
