Bow Valley expansion will double capacity

The ever-expanding Bow Valley College can now see their physical buildings expanding as they put shovels to the new south campus yesterday.

The new seven-story building, across the street from the college, will be able to double its capacity for students from 11,000 to 20,000 a year.

“We now find ourselves with a wonderful challenge in keeping up with demand for our services,” said Sharon Carry, president and CEO.

“When we plan for the future of Bow Valley College, we plan for the full range of needs our students have,” said Carry.

Carrey said the building will have access to the LRT, career development and placement services, a bookstore and the Aboriginal Centre.

Carrey also said it will be a leader in energy and be conscious of the environment.

The construction of the $193-million south campus will begin in August and be completed in 2013.

The redevelopment and expansion project for the north campus building began in 2006.
