A 12-year-old boy is safe after allegedly being kidnapped and forced to be the getaway driver for a supermarket robbery in Mission. The victim was sitting in his father’s van when the 23-year-old suspect opened the door, told the boy to move to the driver’s seat and head to a nearby grocery store, RCMP said.

Police said the terrified boy stayed in the van while the suspect held up the shop, returned to the vehicle and instructed the child to drive away.

Staff at the store called 911, and police caught up with the van nearby.
