Even if you’re not joining this weekend’s races, it might be better to leave your car at home beginning Friday. The organizers of Ottawa Race Weekend have announced the road closures for this weekend’s race events.
Queen Elizabeth Drive will be closed from Somerset Street West to the National Arts Centre, and Laurier Avenue to Queen Elizabeth Drive will be closed between 9 a.m. Friday to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Closures affect dozens of downtown streets including Laurier Avenue, Waverly Avenue, Elgin Street, Rideau Street, Colonel By Drive, Queen Elizabeth Drive, Bronson Avenue, Wellington Street, as well as Portage, Chaudiere and Alexandra bridges and areas in Gatineau, Rockliffe, Vanier and Hog’s Back.
