Brampton and vulgarity go together: survey

LONDON, Ont. – If tweets are any indication, Brampton, Ont., has the dubious honour of being the Canadian city most often associated with a vulgar term.

London, Ont., web design company tbk Creative says it reviewed more than one million postings on Twitter mentioning Canada’s 15 largest cities for vulgar-related tweets.

The survey found more than 1.4 per cent of Brampton-related tweets contained some form of vulgarity.

Hamilton was next at 0.9 per cent, with London, Toronto and Laval, Que., rounding out the top five.

The company says the rest of the top 10 were Montreal, Halifax, Quebec City, Winnipeg and Ottawa.

tbk Creative says tweets that included the city’s name were considered, meaning that the tweet didn’t necessarily come from the city or one of its citizens. Andrew Schiestel of tbk Creative says “draw your own conclusions.”
