Ten students have been suspended from Cole Harbour District High in relation to a brawl that broke out at a school dance last Thursday night.
RCMP arrested two students at about 9:30 p.m. May 22 and later released them.
While no charges have yet been laid, RCMP spokesman Cpl. Joe Taplin said yesterday that there is still a “possibility for charges” and the fight is still under investigation.
According to Halifax regional school board policy, the students can be suspended for up for five days and a recommendation for longer suspensions has to be made to the school’s discipline committee.
Board spokeswoman Shaune MacKinlay said no dances have been cancelled as a result of the incident because it was the last dance of the school year.
