The founder of Brick Brewing, a small Ontario beermaker that has remained fiercely independent in an industry dominated by multinationals, is being sued for allegedly abusing his position and company resources to benefit himself and his wife.
A claim filed with the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in Toronto said the action against Jim Brickman arose from a “breach of fiduciary duty” while he was an officer and director — a 25-year period that ended when he resigned from the board this year.
The company has filed a host of trust issue related charges and has said it will be seeking at least $1 million in damages.
Jim Brickman has not filed a response to the charges.
