Brown making a good case for cracking Mooseheads roster

The Halifax Mooseheads are taking a look at 18-year-old free agent forward Lester Brown at practice.

Brown, an Amsterdam native who played minor hockey in Toronto, has been skating with the Mooseheads this week as the coaches decide whether to keep him. Adding him to the roster would mean cutting another player.

“He’s got good speed, he skates well,” said Mooseheads head coach and general manager Cam Russell. “We’ll take a look at him and decide if we want to take a chance on him.”

The 6-foot-2 forward spent last season with the Boston Shamrocks of the Eastern Junior Hockey League, recording a goal and three assists along with 90 penalty minutes in 15 games.

He had 37 points in 42 games two seasons ago with the Tri-State Selects of the Empire Junior Hockey League.
