Potential library budget cuts may delay a much-anticipated northeast community library, according to the Calgary Public Library CEO.

Gerry Meek explains a shortfall might cause a delay in the opening of the new Saddletowne branch.

“It’s almost built, it would be furnished, but we just might not have the money to operate it,” Meek said, adding no final budget decisions would likely be made until after the October election. The public library’s share of the city cuts could be $3 million.
