Building, buying or renovating?

The idea of planning a new home or renovating your existing home is exciting.

However, the process does not happen overnight and the decision to go ahead is only one of many that will be made throughout the entire project. The next steps are probably some of the most important ones that will be taken, and at the top of the list is the planning process.

Whether it is a brand new house or new siding, a kitchen, windows or a new deck, homeowners need to do their homework to make sure the finished product meets their expectations.

One way to start the planning process is to visit showrooms, home shows and seminars to learn about what is available and what products are of interest to you for the project.

In particular, the Nova Scotia Home Builders’ Association (NSHBA) is producing the 11th annual Real Home Show 2010, taking place at the Halifax Forum this Friday through Sunday.

This show will have ideas, information and products on display to help provide consumers with a greater understanding of what is available for their new home or renovation project.

Professional builders, renovators and industry professionals, all of whom have the knowledge and expertise to provide suggestions, tips and answers to questions will also be participating in the Real Home Show.

“Whether you are building a brand new home, making plans to do a major renovation or want to upgrade your existing home, people will be able to find the answers to all of their questions at the Real Home Show 2010,” says Paul Pettipas, NSHBA chief executive officer. “There is something for everyone at the show.”

This year there will also be a Million Dollar Promotion at the show. Visitors will have a chance to try their luck to win $1 million. All that is needed to participate in this promotion is your entry ticket and a little bit of luck. The promotion will be taking place in the Cleaner, Greener Building of the show.

The Real Home Show 2010 is a show designed for people who are considering building, buying or renovating, now or in the future. Plan to attend March 12-14 at the Halifax Forum. For more information on the Real Home Show phone 450-5554.
