Police near Victoria confirmed the identity of a murdered teen whose burned body was found near the popular Galloping Goose Trail.

The body of Kimberly Proctor, 18, of Langford, was discovered on Friday along the popular hiking and biking trail in Colville, just west of Victoria. The body had been burned, making identification difficult.

RCMP Insp. Mark Fisher delivered the news to the girl’s family Monday.

“I cannot even imagine the pain they are going through,” Fisher said. “Kimberly Proctor came from a loving family that was close-knit and will miss her dearly.”

The high-school student was in her graduating year at Pacific Secondary and had been missing since Thursday. She was last seen getting off a bus at 10:20 a.m.
