Chemicals that could have been used to make 30 million doses of ecstasy won’t find their way onto Vancouver streets after a massive bust by Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and the RCMP.
A record 3.7 tonnes of MDP2P, the main ingredient used in the production of ecstasy, was uncovered after the CBSA identified a high-risk shipment scheduled to arrive at the Port of Vancouver from China.
When border officers examined 78 barrels labelled sodium hydroxide they found about 3,700 kilograms of MDP2P.
