Busted jaywalker carrying property from break and enter: police

Man ran when officer approached him

Jaywalking may not carry a hefty fine, but it's not advisable when you're carrying stolen goods.

Edmonton police say an officer watched a man jaywalk across Calgary Trail near 34 Avenue Friday afternoon.

The man ran when the officer approached him, but was
arrested after a brief foot chase.

He
reportedly possessed a new mountain bike and had a guitar tucked under
his jacket. Police say he also had a
duffle bag filled with what appears to be stolen property.

Officers learned that the bicycle and guitar were from a recent
break and enter to a home on 104 Street and 32A Avenue that had not yet
been reported.

A 39-year-old man has been charged with break and enter and possession of stolen property.
