Busy moms the focus of this weekend’s National Women’s Show

Women these days are busy.

And this weekend, they can find everything that makes them tick under one roof at the Ottawa National Women’s Show.

“The show includes everything women want to know and more,” said Tanya Williams, spokeswoman for the show at Lansdowne Park. “We have fashion, career, food and wine sampling, beauty and makeovers, healthy eating and fitness.

“We call it the ultimate girls’ day out.”

For many area women, this show might be their only chance to get to everything they want to do in one day, Williams said.

“Women are always taking on as much as they can because that’s what women do. The great thing about this show is that you can bring your children and your friends, get spa treatments, find new things and just have fun.”

“The biggest challenge for moms today is finding time to do it all,” said Catherine Marion, co-host of Slice Television’s The Mom Show.

On The Mom Show, the Ottawa resident and mother of four speaks openly about motherhood.

“Sometimes it’s not a bed of roses,” she admitted. “Kids vomit and teenagers get their hearts broken. But by sharing these things, I hope people can connect — I’m just a regular mom who drives her kids to hockey, piano and their friends’ houses.”

Marion, a former teacher and model, will be sharing tips on saving time at Lansdowne Park this weekend.

“We’re trying to teach moms a few tips so they can save time and put that time elsewhere,” she said.

The women’s show, which begins Friday and runs through Sunday, is expected to attract between 15,000 and 20,000 attendees.
