Large companies that invest in Ottawa’s economy will soon be eligible for a new “buy local” distinction from the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce.?
Yesterday, OCC executive director Erin Kelly announced the new initiative as a way for multi-national members to quantify their investment in buying Ottawa products.?
Large companies bidding for contracts with the various levels of government are frequently asked about their investment in the local economy.?
The “buy local” distinction will be given to larger companies who have contracts with smaller Ottawa-based product and service providers.?
“It’s to help local companies and the make sure that companies located in Ottawa invest in Ottawa,” Kelly said.?
Kelly said the tracking will be done through the chamber’s new website, which is launching at the end of April.
