A top executive with Calgary’s city-owned electrical utility has made Forbes Magazine’s Top 10 list for the fifth biggest CEO screw-up of the year.

The magazine cited Enmax’s Gary Holden for an email he sent to employees criticizing media coverage of his $2.7-million pay package and private house parties featuring rock stars.

Holden told staff members he had been railroaded and warned people not to share any information with the media.

Helen Coster, who wrote the screw-up article, said most CEOs would have used a public relations expert to handle such matters.

Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi is demanding a closer look at Enmax’s books, and company officials are promising to publicly reveal executive pay scales by the end of the year.
