Hundreds lined the pews at First Alliance Church in Calgary yesterday for the memorial of a city journalist killed in Afghanistan.
Friends, family, colleagues and several dignitaries celebrated the life of award-winning Calgary Herald reporter Michelle Lang, 34, who died alongside four Canadian soldiers when their vehicle was struck by an IED outside Kandahar city on Dec. 30.
Lang was the first Canadian journalist to die while covering the country’s mission in Afghanistan.
Her funeral service was held last week in her native Vancouver.
