Calgarian Aset Magomadova was sentenced to three years probation this morning in the strangulation of her 14-year old daughter Aminat with a scarf in 2007.
The Crown was seeking a 12-year prison term for the woman.
Court of Queen’s Bench Justice Sal LoVecchio convicted Magomadova of manslaughter last October, ruling the strangling of her daughter was not self-defence, but it also wasn’t second-degree murder as no intent was proven.
