CALGARY - A Calgary police officer charged with Internet luring is now suspended without pay.

Const. Randann Sargent was originally suspended back in June.

Chief
Rick Hanson took the unusual step Tuesday of asking the police
commission to continue Sargent's suspension, but without pay, until the
matter has been through court.

The police union opposed the chief's request, but the commission agreed.

Sargent
is accused of using a computer to communicate with a person believed to
be under the age of 18 to have that person take photographs that fall
within the definition of child pornography.
