Calgary Zoo's surprise baby tiger still in intensive care

Round the clock care is being given to a Siberian tiger cub that was a surprise birth to Calgary Zoo officials.

The surviving female Siberian tiger cub born to Katja at the Calgary Zoo Monday is in stable condition in intensive care, say zoo officials.

According to the zoo, veterinary teams have been working around the clock to provide care for the newborn cub at the zoo's Animal Health Centre.

Zoo officials said they were surprised by the birth of two cubs to Katja, one of which was found dead, as she hadn't shown any indications that was the case.

The zoo is providing more details to the media, and more information will be made available later today.
