Camp starts investigation

The camp where a 12-year-old girl was injured has launched an internal investigation into what caused a bell to fall when a student rang it Tuesday afternoon.

Thalia McRae, communications director for the camp, said that there had been no previous indication of problems with the safety of the bell and that they’re conducting an internal investigation.

The rest of the kids, who were at the camp to learn about the environment and leadership skills, will remain until the retreat is finished.

The girl was struck in the head when she rang the bell for mealtime and the bell apparently fell from its moorings.
