Premier Gordon Campbell took his HST sales pitch directly to voters last night during a 20-minute televised address.

“We should we have consulted you more,” said Campbell, who also announced a 15 per cent reduction in the provincial income tax on the first $72,000 earned.

He laid out the rushed rationale behind the government’s decision to harmonize its sales tax. He also reminded viewers that they would be the de facto “finance minister” during a referendum on the HST next September.
