Can’t accuse Miller of not cutting the fat

David Miller may be the incredibly shrinking mayor, but at 6-foot-3 he’s still easily recognizable.

In the past year, Miller, 50, has adopted a much more rigorous exercise routine that includes workouts before the sun rises and regular runs. He has shed 50 pounds, falling below 200 pounds, for the first time in 20 years.

“We still recognize him. Even if he had glasses we would recognize him,” said Richard Loyer, who was strolling in Nathan Phillips Square outside city hall.

During the 2003 campaign, Miller famously confessed that his favourite comfort food was a Quarter Pounder with cheese.

But last Wednesday, he chronicled a tough workout to his Twitter followers and said, “weigh-in showed I’ve lost 50 lbs.”

He celebrated with some peanut butter on an English muffin.
