There’s nothing quite like sitting on the waterfront deck at Salty’s on a sunny day watching the boats sail by. Not all the food is as impressive as the view, but it’s still one of my summer favourites.

The Baked Crab Dip with Spinach and Artichoke ($15.95), served with crispy tortilla chips, has good flavour but, disappointingly is heavy on the salt.

Seafood Pasta ($16.95) — fettuccine with fresh-tasting scallops, shrimp, salmon and haddock — is mixed with a heavy and bland dill cream sauce. It could use a kick.

Potato Crusted Haddock ($16.95) is fresh and delicious, uniquely cooked with red skin potatoes baked over top. The accompanying tomato corn salsa is tasty, but the broccoli is way overdone.

The Fish and Chips ($13.95) and the Clams and Chips ($17.95) are both excellent. The fresh clams in particular are among the best I’ve had in a long while. The chips, while not home cut, arrive steaming hot and taste fine.

The service here is friendly and fast. And did I mention the view?
