The 2010 Cancer Foundation Telethon brought in $4,362,615 for the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation yesterday.

All the money raised from the telethon always stays in eastern Ontario for initiatives including reducing wait times and getting cancer care closer to home. But this year, the foundation has a special project: Fundraising for the new Wellspring Ottawa: Cancer Survivorship Centre, which will help survivors with issues such as financial assistance, nutrition and physical fitness.

The federal and provincial governments also announced a $1.7-million investment in the centre yesterday.
