Candidate seeks end to Upass

Carleton and uOttawa full-time students will be testing out a universal bus pass this school year, but mayoral candidate Charlie Taylor wants the program scrapped.

The Upass will cost all full-time students an extra $145 per semester on top of their tuition. There is no option to withdraw from the program.

While that is a great deal for students who rely on transit (a monthly student pass is $73.25), Taylor, a Carleton student, said that discount is coming from the pockets of people who don’t normally purchase monthly passes.
