Candidate would sell part of Enmax

Mayoral Candidate Craig Burrows says if elected, he will help fund new rinks and soccer facilities by selling a portion of Enmax.

The former alderman made the declaration yesterday, saying he would create a $300-million Enmax Community Investment Fund by selling the company’s power plant construction business.

“Enmax was initially set up to provide electricity to Calgarians. It now is involved in the risky power-generation sector,” Burrows said. The fund would be used to build six new rinks and eight indoor/outdoor soccer facilities, he added.
