A man has died after a canoeing accident on the Kananaskis River.
RCMP said the 34-year-old was canoeing on the river at about 9:05 p.m. on Tuesday night near the area of Canoe Meadows when his boat was overturned and he fell into the water.
Mounties said the man was wearing a floatation device and helmet but became entangled in a rope from his own canoe, which them became caught up in rocks.
There was a heavy current at the time and he was caught underwater.
Family members have requested the man’s name not be released.
In Calgary, meanwhile, the body pulled from the Bow River near Carburn Park on the weekend has been identified as that of a 17-year-old teen who fell in the water last week.
William Robert Dannewald was walking along the riverbank with his girlfriend when he walked out on a sewer pipe and fell off.
