Canuck drivers optimistic for Montreal NASCAR race

Two Canadian drivers with good prospects in the NASCAR Nationwide race in Montreal August 28-29 were in Ottawa Wednesday.

Toronto-area resident Ron Fellows, who has won six NASCAR races over 12 years, including the Montreal race in 2008, said “our chances for this race are good. We’re pretty confident we’ll be a threat.”

Cambridge, Ontario native J.R. Fitzpatrick won the Edmonton Indy last weekend.

The Montreal track is one of the 22-year-old’s favourites, he said. This weekend, he competes at the A&W 300 in Vernon, B.C.
