Canucks fans score goats for Kenyans

Growing a goatee in support of the Canucks’ playoff run was not quite enough for a local roller hockey team.

Growing a goatee in support of the Canucks’ playoff run was not quite enough for a local roller hockey team.

After a few beers, Joel Nagtegaal of Langley and his teammates decided to donate a goat to a village in Kenya for each playoff game the Canucks won.

“We started with a Facebook group for the guys on the team, but then they told their friends who told their friends and it just went from there,” Nagtegaal said yesterday.

To date, 875 goats have been purchased through the “Goat Canucks Goat” charity. They will be delivered in July.

“It was quite amazing and shows that there are some great people out there,” Nagtegaal said.
