The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles have their hands full in the first round of the QMJHL playoffs.

The seventh-place Screaming Eagles, who went 41-22-5 and bolstered their roster at the trade deadline to make a run at a championship, have drawn the third-place Moncton Wildcats (48-14-6).

The Wildcats feature the QMJHL’s co-leading scorer in Nicolas Deschamps and the reigning MVP in goaltender Nicola Riopel. But the Wildcats learned yesterday forward Scott Trask has been suspended “indefinitely” for a hit to the head in Sunday’s game against the Saint John Sea Dogs.

Action in the series begins Friday and Saturday in Moncton.

The other Maritime matchup features the first-place Sea Dogs (53-12-3) against the eighth-place P.E.I. Rocket (35-25-8).

The other QMJHL first-round playoff matchups are Lewiston-Drummondville, Shawinigan-Victoriaville, Bathurst-Quebec, Chicoutimi-Rimouski, Val-d’Or-Rouyn-Noranda and Gatineau-Montreal.
