A 21-year-old man is facing charges of impaired driving and other driving-related offences after police say someone drove into one car, fled the scene of the accident and then ran into the front porch of a nearby house.

Halifax Regional Police say the hit-and-run accident took place at 2:40 p.m. around Pleasant and Portland streets in Dartmouth yesterday.

Police say a grey Kia Forte fled the crash at a high rate of speed, drove over a nearby lawn and caused substantial damage to the porch. The vehicle then continued and struck a telephone pole at Dahlia and Maple streets.

The 21-year-old was arrested and taken to hospital with minor injuries. Other charges include failing to stop at the scene of an accident and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
