Carleton alum on astronaut shortlist

Carleton alumnus Matt Bamsey has been chosen as one of 16 candidates by the Canadian Space Agency for its National Astronaut Recruitments Campaign.

Bamsey was selected from a pool of 5,300 people and spent the last several months undergoing extensive medical, physical and skills tests to find out whether or not he will join Canada’s astronaut corps in May.

Bamsey graduated from Carleton in 2004 with an undergraduate degree in aerospace engineering and is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Guelph.
