Carleton president reflects on 1st year

On her first day as president of Carleton University, Dr. Roseann Runte ran into Mayor Larry O’Brien at the 2008 Canada Day fireworks show and he joked that they would throw a party like that every year in her honour.

“I’ve had a really warm welcome and I’ve really enjoyed it,” Runte said.

Carleton has seen a number of highlights in the year since Runte took her post, including a funding commitment of $52.5 million from the federal and provincial governments for two new buildings for the Waterfront Project.

And while she’s not taking credit for it, the major contribution from Richard and Pamela Joho to the College of the Humanities was a nice thing to celebrate, said Runte.
