Carleton Ravens to defend basketball title

The Carleton Ravens men’s basketball team will be looking for its seventh national championship in eight years at Scotiabank Place this weekend.

Ottawa is hosting the last Canadian Interuniversity Sport men’s basketball championship for three consecutive years, before it moves to Halifax in 2011.

The Ravens are coming into the tournament with the top rank in the country after posting a regular season record of 20 wins and two losses.

Carleton opens its title defence against L’Université du Québec à Montréal on Friday night.
The championship game tips off at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Ravens head coach Dave Smart said there are five teams that have a good chance of being crowned national champions on Sunday night.

“This year’s tournament, it’s hard to pick who the favourite is.”
