Repairs could go on for several months in Carstairs after the community was hit with a violent storm early Monday, pummeling the town with strong winds and hail the size of baseballs.

Hundreds of homes were hit and the damage is estimated to be in the millions.

Environment Canada said the timing of the event - the fact that it happened overnight with cooler temperatures - not common for hail storms, could have increased the potency of the hail.
