Cat suffers head wounds in beating; charges laid

A man has been charged with cruelty after allegedly punching a cat numerous times for “not listening” to him.

Winnie suffered multiple head wounds after being allegedly hit by her owner’s boyfriend.

Davin James Sahota of Victoria is charged with animal cruelty.

The cat was rushed to a veterinarian where she was treated for multiple fractures to her head and face. She has been returned to her owner, who no longer has any contact with the accused as per a special agreement.

If convicted, Sahota faces a maximum fine of $10,000, up to five years in jail and a ban on owning animals.
