Fire investigators are trying to determine what caused a blaze that destroyed a home in West Chezzetcook early Thursday.

About 45 Halifax regional fire fighters descended upon the house on Highway 207 around 5:30 a.m. when a call came in about a two-storey home up in flames.

“It was fully evolved when we arrived,” said divisional fire chief Mike LeRue. “There were ... flames shooting around everywhere.”

LeRue said there was one person inside the home when the fire broke out. They escaped unharmed. It took fire fighters about two hours to bring the blaze under control, he added.
