The Lawton-Fort Sill Cavalry have forced a third and deciding game in the Premier Basketball League final.
The Cavalry, which knocked off the Halifax Rainmen in the semifinals, downed the two-time defending champion Rochester RazorSharks 95-84 in Game 2 last night in Oklahoma.
Brandon Dean and Elvin Mims dropped 20 points for the Cavalry, which hosts Game 3 tomorrow at 9:05 p.m.
Glen Dandridge, who played 15 games with the Rainmen last year before signing with the RazorSharks in the off-season, led the losing side with 18 points and added six rebounds. Reigning league MVP Keith Friel was next with 16 points.
The series was marred with a late-game incident in last Thursday’s 110-106 RazorSharks victory in Rochester. Cavalry head coach Michael Ray Richardson, who was ejected for abusive and vulgar language with 2.7 seconds remaining, was reportedly struck in the head by a water bottle thrown from the stands.
Members of the Cavalry reportedly entered the stands after the water bottle was thrown, resulting in the indefinite suspension of centre Oliver Miller, an NBA veteran who once played for the Toronto Raptors.
Additional fines were handed out to both the Cavalry and the RazorSharks.
The Cavalry issued a press release on the weekend stating the organization “certainly understands the decisions the PBL has made in response.”
