One of Halifax’s best known media buildings is now on the market.
The CBC Radio building, located on the corner of South Park and Sackville streets, is up for sale. Radio and television operations at CBC will be consolidated at the broadcaster’s Bell Road location, set to be expanded and upgraded in 2013. Andrew Cochrane, director of CBC’s Maritime operations, said staff were informed early yesterday — and were overwhelmingly in favour of the move.
“We had a staff briefing in the studio (yesterday) morning, and I have to say, there was widespread applause,” he said.
While Cochrane said the “market will decide” how much the building will go for, he made no attempt to hide that he believes it will fetch a high price.
