Homegrown talent has A-list clientele

Harry Josh has come a long way from the rainy streets of Vancouver to the red carpets and runways of New York, Paris and Milan.
But the casting agent for Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton, and world-renowned celebrity hair stylist, still gets star-struck.
Despite having worked with the likes of Jennifer Aniston, Faith Hill, Gisele Bundchen and Rachel Hunter, Josh said he could barely contain himself when Sarah Jessica Parker sat down in his chair.
“She’s so cool and super funny,” said the New-York-based, Vancouver-raised 35-year-old.
“And she really is like Carrie Bradshaw (her character in Sex and the City). Aside from her being much smarter. But her spirit is much like that. She’s a huge bookworm.”
Josh said it’s easy to get the natural, tousled look of Kate Hudson and Gisele Bundchen despite the damp Vancouver climate, which makes for frizzy, flat hair.
“You’ve got to have a layered cut with lots of ends,” he said.
“Use Dream Curls curl-perfecting spray by John Frieda and air dry. If you don’t have a lot of wave you want to diffuse your hair. The key is to never touch your hair because it just creates more frizz.”
To combat frizz Josh uses Frizz-ease thermal protection serum. For volume he recommends applying Brilliant Brunette volumizing mousse into the roots of wet hair. Blow dry hair only at the root then let the rest air-dry.
