Celebrate Canada Day in style

A whole host of activities awaits those looking to stoke the fires of patriotism this Canada Day in Calgary.

Calgarians in the mood to wake up on Canada Day with a pancake breakfast have a choice of where they can eat, with both Fort Calgary and Heritage Park flipping the flat snacks beginning at 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. respectively.

Both parks will also host a variety of events throughout the day.

City of Calgary Canada Day co-ordinator Stephanie Barnett said the city is throwing two large parties, one at Prince’s Island Park from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m., and then another celebration at Olympic Plaza at 7 p.m.

“There is something for everyone at both of these events. There are family-driven events and also things for older people as well,” she said.

The celebrations will be capped off with a fireworks display around 10:45 p.m. at Olympic Plaza, Barnett added.
